Mantra, 2010,

acrylic on canvas
We currently have a few paintings from this 2010 series of work by Los Angeles based artist HADLEY HOLLIDAY. Each work shows a curious approach to the act of painting—the relationship between the color staining, layering, repetition, and line treatment.

Boucherouite— Berber rag rugs, 20-25 years old
Made by Berber women from the Boujad region of Morocco (the High Atlas mountain region) using rags, discarded clothing, stockings, wool remnants and miscellaneous fabric scraps. They show an adaptive rug making process with their use of available materials but the vital color pairings and subtle compositions underline how inventive the makers are within a traditional framework.
